About Dream Kitchen
The name, dream kitchen, is a statement. A
dream kitchen is what every American wants.
Most everything done, be it
policy, overwork war, litigation etc, is always so somebody can
get a
dream kitchen.
We call the sound Folk-a-delic since we use a lot of acoustic
instruments, (well sometimes) and tend to groove live. One fan called it
'Monster Pop' made of newer and dead parts of
all styles of music. A city paper review years back called the
listening experience ' like listening to a lounge band on a pirate
ship'.
Music is a language and a matrix. Dream
Kitchen uses songs as a type of linguistics
to communicate with several
peoples, so various styles are often borrowed.
Dream Kitchen has
been invited to open shows for Hootie and the Blowfish,
The Spin
Doctors, Black 47, The Radiators, David Bromberg, Peter Case,
Suddenly
Tammy, the Rembrandts and more.
The first
CD received airplay on over 100 college radio stations and made the top
20 on over a quarter of the stations that we found out about.
There really was no
marketing campaign per say. How the songs got
to a Japanese compilation or a
dance club in Kiev is a mystery. It
is nice to receive those e-mails.
The goal is to have a new set
of peers in the established artist community to make
more music and
share it with a lot of people. If we play hard the work will take
care
of itself and good things will happen for all the partners.
